Lukas 6 | Portrait

My handsome young man turned six on me… just like that… in the blink of an eye.

My goal is to photograph my kids around their birthday as a keepsake for our family albums, and although I was a little over a month late with capturing my oldest here, I’m so thrilled we did it.

First off, he was so willing and agreeable about have a session with me… to the point where he was so excited to pose himself and work his own magic (with plenty of laughs and chuckles from me/us along the way).  He insisted we include his football, too.  My goal was to capture Lukas just being himself, whatever we ended up getting into while out & shooting, and he was and more… sweet, loving, funny, happy, smily, goofy, playful, and even patriotic.  This kid has a heart overflowing with pure love, and it was such an incredible late afternoon spending special one on one time with him & having images to remember it by.

Lukas means “light” in Greek, and he most certainly is his namesake.  He is my light.  Here are a handful of my favorite images from our special time together…

I didn’t want our special time to end… we went for ice cream and then a quick stop at the store on the way home.  He insisted on getting the door for me (as he does most everywhere, for most all people) and carrying my basket (although it was pretty heavy for him).  He might’ve wanted to show off his muscles, but his respect and manners are seriously so impressive and makes my heart swell with pride.  I love him so.
