John & Michelle | Engaged

Picture it…  It’s my sophomore year of college, fall semester, and I’m signed up for the 8:30am Old Testament course.  (Are you asking yourself “now why on earth would anybody ever do that to themselves?!”  😉 You can probably already figure out how this is going to end…)  I’ll be gracious enough to say that not only am I *not* an early riser naturally, but I definitely needed a little help with my Bible stories.   John and I sat next to each other in class and quickly became good friends, and not only was he an awesome friend but a pretty awesome <unofficial> tutor – his Roman Catholic background and his willingness to sit down with me and explain OT stories “Sesame Street Style” (as I like to call it) definitely helped me out & played a huge part in me passing that class.

Fast forward… John’s one of my best friends to this day.  In the past 12ish years that we’ve known each other, I don’t think there’s been a week where we haven’t picked up the phone just to say hello & catch up.  We get each other’s humor, and a lot of our convos end with laughter and silly jokes.  When I lived in VA (somewhat local to each other), we’d meet up for a meal whenever John was passing thru town, and the conversation has always flowed and with much laughter.  I felt so privileged when John confided in me that he was thinking of proposing to his girlfriend Michelle… our discussions of rings… hearing all about the big purchase… and his plans on how and when he was going to pop the question… and completely honored that he wanted me to meet Michelle before he asked!  We had an opportunity while I was visiting VA last year where we could all 3 go out to dinner and finally meet the woman that John was ready to settle down with, and it was so nice to finally meet her & wonderful to see him so happy.  Our dinner was on a Tuesday night, and he proposed that Friday!

John asked me to photograph him & Michelle for their engagement photos, and I was so excited!  Being that John is a lifer to the Baltimore area (Michelle too!) and they got engaged at a little secret special place in Inner Harbor, it was only appropriate that our session take place in downtown B’more, hun!  Our photo day could not have turned out prettier!!

We started our session on Federal Hill, overlooking beautiful Inner Harbor…

Excellent job on the ring, John!!  It’s BEE-U-TEE-FULL  🙂

I love this outtake… we had so much fun playing around during our session!!

*sigh* I just love Federal Hill… how beautiful is this part of the city?!?

After Federal Hill, we moved down to Inner Harbor to finish our session.  I love this photo because John & Michelle are facing & looking out toward the little spot where he proposed…

J&M ~ I can’t wait for your July wedding on the beautiful Maine beaches!!!  Thank you so much for asking me to capture this special time in your lives… I had so much fun & wish you both all of the best in the world!  Big hugs to you!!!

    John Battaglia - Heather,
Michelle and I are still glowing with enthusiasm from our session a few weeks ago. We had such a blast and it really shows in the photographs you took. We absolutely LOVE them! Michelle and I both agree that we have never been as comfortable during a photo shoot as we were that day. I don’t know how you did it, but the every shot does such a great job of representing how much we love each other! Thank you so much.
